What is Briones Mafia and why you ask? Well, let's start with a different question; who or what is Briones?

Briones East Bay Regional Park is located in Contra Costa County California near Martinez, Pinole, Lafayette, Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek. Although there is very little narrow gauge trail that is legal for mountain biking at this park, there are over 30 miles of challengingly steep fireroad and striking views of Mount Diablo and the San Pablo Bay delta. Most of us affiliate ourselves with this park as it is close enough to ride from our homes or within a short commute distance to meet up for rides.

Additionally, the East Bay Regional Parks are open from 5am until 10pm and lend themselves to busy work schedules.

Briones Mafia is a loosely knit band of mountain bike passionites who met through the Mountain Bike Review NorCal discussion forum.

Team Briones Mafia Racing has had competitors in the Sea Otter Classic 2005 and the 24 Hours of Adrenalin races held at Laguna Seca raceway in Monterey, CA. As we get faster and more comfortable racing, we will compete in more venues.

We believe in a responsible trail use community and most of our members are also members of The Bicycle Trails Council of the East Bay, NorCaMBA or other advocacy groups. We urge mountain bikers to get involved in advocacy in their main riding areas and also support IMBA.

Our stories can be read in the Good Stuff To Read area and our photos can be viewed in the Photo Gallery.
